Enhance your Health with Advanced Pilates

For anybody trying to increase their fitness levels and enhance their general health, Pilates is always a great choice. This routine was created to help people steadily improve their health without subjecting themselves to the dangers of damaging their joints, muscles and back. It has been really renowned since its launch virtually 100 years ago.

For people who have already had some experience with Pilates, you will be able to proceed to improve your health by taking advanced
Pilates programs developed to teach you further techniques and give you more exercise regimens. This is the best way to gradually improve the length of time that you spend doing workouts without pushing yourself too far which can lead to injury.

Some of those who practice advanced
Pilates choose to do so as a result of old injuries that must be treated carefully, or as they are concerned about pushing themselves very hard and straining muscles. It is vital to bear in mind that most forms of Pilates can be adjusted with a view to fit in the user, depending upon how your instructor feels you are doing, and what health benefits you can gain from doing the exercises in a slightly different way.

For instance, if you have been having back pain for several years, then a program of advanced Pilates can start to rectify the damage by adjusting the exercises to take that into consideration, or you will be able to start utilizing the equipment like aero
Pilates exercise boards to rectify your posture and enable you to carry your body in a more balanced position.
Your advanced Pilates instructor can guide you in what you should do in order to do these exercises, but several people don’t realize that you might require a lot of equipments in order to do the exercises properly. For instance, you might want to look into how the aero Pilates machines will enable you to correct your joints while not putting stress on them, which is one of the proposed methods behind this form of exercise.

While you are taking
Pilates courses, you will need to purchase the equipment which is needed to perform the workouts appropriately, particularly the Pilates machine that is fitted with elastic cords allowing you to work out your entire body while not causing impact damage to your bones, joints or ligaments. This kind of equipment could be expensive, and few people prefer to choose the much more cost efficient Pilates ring, although this lacks the flexibility of the machine.

Get a Pilates body on the Go

"In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you'll have a different body." - Joseph H. Pilates

A miracle? Not really. What is it about this movement method that dancers, athletes and celebrities are raving about? And most importantly, how can it help you get in shape?
Pilates was developed from the rehabilitation techniques of Joseph Pilates, a safe, sensible exercise system through the use of a floor mat or equipment that will help you look and feel your very best. No matter what your age or condition, it will work for you. Pilates improves core strength, flexibility, agility and economy of motion. It can even help alleviate back pain and other chronic ailments. What’s more the emphasis on proper breathing technique can also help to reduce stress.

Pilates works as a system of exercises that works to stretch and strengthen your muscles at the same time. This means that one can build strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen. What’s more, conventional workouts tend to build short, bulky muscles - the type most prone to injury. Pilates elongates and strengthens, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility. Pilates conditions the whole body, even the ankles and feet. No muscle group is over trained or under trained. Your entire musculature is evenly balanced and conditioned, helping you enjoy daily activities and sports with greater ease and less chance of injury.

Over at The Moving Body, we provide group and private Pilates classes for individuals who are looking for personalised training or just enjoy the fun of working in a group. We’ve  taken it up a notch by designing a portable workout that clients can take with them on their travels. Here is a peek at Pilates Stretch on the Fitbar, a work out designed specially to free the body for better movement. It marries the benefits of using a portable foam roller (The Fitbar) to release tight muscles in the body whilst challenging the body when used as a prop for Pilates Exercises. Try out these exercises today or better still try out a class at The Moving Body, call 62351051 for bookings. You can try out more Portable Pilates routines at The Moving Body every Mon 630pm, Thur 9am and sat 12pm. Classes are $30 for a walk-in session and $250 for 10 sessions.

Since 2009, The Moving Body has been providing Pilates, GYROTONIC® exercise and Physiotherapy in Singapore. In late 2010, The Moving Body moved to its current premises at the street level of Robertson Walk, Singapore where it is now much bigger and more convenient for clients. The Moving Body also provides Deep Tissue Massage or Sports Massage Therapy to complement its exercise offerings.

The Moving Body remains to focus on providing fitness, sports conditioning and rehabilitation to a wide group of people. Our clients range from teenagers to seniors and everything in between. We have people who come in to improve their posture, muscle tone, and joint mobility. We have trained and are currently helping athletes train for their sports. We have had runners, cyclists, swimmers, golfers and dancers as well.

Our Physiotherapy department helps people in their rehabilitation programs, from people who suffer from chronic pain, injuries and accidents. Our therapists are able to combine physiotherapy with Pilates or GYROTONIC®  as part of the treatment programs to help in the rehabilitation. We call this Movement Therapy. Our instructors and therapists are certified to work with expecting and new mothers. And we have people who come in simply because they want to make a change to their life.

The Team at The Moving Body consists of more than 10 certified instructors, physiotherapists and massage therapists.

The Moving Body has a complete range of equipment. The Pilates Private (1-on-1) area has a full set of Pilates apparatus and reformers. Our group class room has 6 Pilates reformers  to provide a personalised session in a class. In addition to these, The Moving Body has the most GYROTONIC® exercise towers in Singapore. The studio has 6 towers plus 3 apparatuses.

For our client’s comfort and convenience, the studio has its own shower facility, change rooms and restrooms. So if you plan to squeeze your exercise routine or massage in between your busy day, you can simply come as you are and leave refreshed and energized.

The studio has an in-house café, Sprout, which serves sandwiches and light snacks. Sprout also offers fresh fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies.
